Julian’s distinguished career in law enforcement and government, as the Toronto, York and London Police Chief and Ontario’s Commissioner of Emergency Management culminated in his appointment as the Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner. He then was elected to Parliament, becoming Minister of Veterans Affairs, National Defence and International Cooperation. A leading expert on drug enforcement and federal regulatory policy, Julian advocates for the well- being of first responders, and police, fire and military personnel with post-traumatic stress disorders.
Raf retired as RCMP Deputy Commissioner of Federal and International Policing, after 34 years in progressively senior roles. His portfolio included drug and organized crime enforcement, national security, counter terrorism and the Prime Minister’s security. He led the development of the drug-impaired driving legislation and the creation of the Drug Recognition Expert training for police officers. After counselling successive Justice Ministers, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appointed Raf to the nine-member Task Force on Marijuana Legalization and Regulation, which provided advice on the new legislative and regulatory framework for legal access to cannabis.
Garry’s thirty-year career in accounting has focussed on financial reporting, operational efficiencies and cash optimization with experience in public and private companies. He most recently served as CFO and VP-Finance for the privately held TAR Investments Limited, including Atlantic Business Interiors Limited and Datarite Limited. He received a Bachelors in Business Administration from Acadian University, obtaining his CPA and CMA designations in 1990. Awarded the FCPA, FCMA designations in 2009, he is a member of CPA Nova Scotia and CPA Canada.
Don obtained one of the first Health Canada licenses to grow and sell commercial hemp, medical cannabis’ sister plant (without THC). An industry pioneer, he worked with the National Research Council to create applications for hemp fiber as well as turning the seed oil into food products. He later created his own multidisciplinary healthcare model that has operated for the last decade.
In 2016, Don joined Canabo Medical Corp. as its National Manager of Educators and Licensed Producer Relations. His background in the hemp industry, coupled with his experience in clinic operations, enabled him to significantly increase Canabo’s revenue stream. He launched key research partnerships dealing with medical cannabis as an alternative treatment for numerous chronic illnesses as well as its quality of life improvement, socio-economic impact, pharmaceutical reduction and patient relief for specific chronic issues such as sleep, PTSD, cancer, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and epilepsy. His promotion to VP of Business Development and Research continues to solidify Aleafia/Canabo as the gold standard for the workplace, insurance and health plans, long term care and continued research. He is dedicated to helping patients find effective alternate and adjunct treatments for their ailments by using medical marijuana, educating patients, physicians and the community and advancing research in the prescription cannabinoids and medical marijuana field.
Bob’s experience and expertise has been dedicated to the attainment of employment related to Canadians with disabilities. As the CEO of Link Up Employment Services for Persons with Disabilities – he has developed innovative tools and models to assist marginalized individuals to become more employable. The author of SAFEABILITY and the “Disabilities to Possibilities,” Projects, Bob also founded National Disability Employment Awareness Month Canada, and has been recognized with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contributions to integrating People with Disabilities into the Canadian workforce.
